Maintains Dorsiflexion Positioning

The Strassburg Sock is a tubular knit support that maintains the foot in a neutral to slightly stretched position. Placing tension on the tissue (plantar fasciia), helps the joints heal in a stretched position during rest. Fitting over the calf muscle with 2 attached adjustable straps, the mechanism holds the ankle and forefoot joints in a position of slight dorsiflexion to help prevent a position of plantar flexion.

Used in the Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is an inflammation of the fibrous tissue, called the plantar fasciia, that runs along the bottom of your foot that connects the heel (calcaneus) to the toes (metatarsals). In a position of slight dorsiflexion, the support does not allow the plantar fascia to contract while a prone or supine position. Involuntary stretching of the plantar fascia over a length of time helps strengthen the foot’s arch. To correctly wear The Strassburg Sock, secure the upper strap around the calf with the attached Velcro brand fastener. Then pass the toes through the ‘O’ ring, pulling the toes up approximately ½ inches off the floor.

Benefits of The Strassburg Sock

Designed not to lock the ankle joint into any one position, the support is allowed some movement between the joints preventing possible joint compression pain. The Strassburg Sock can be worn overnight providing no significant restrictions and it won’t interrupt normal sleep. Wearing the support overnight helps to reduce the pain experienced from impact of the few first steps getting out of bed.
