Key Material Benefits
Aquaplast-T is the same as the original Aquaplast, but with a non-stick coating. When reheated, the Aquaplast family is the only Rolyan splinting family that “remembers” its original shape and returns to it. It also is the only family that turns transparent or translucent when heated to provide identification of pressure points and landmarks to provide maximum comfort. These two unique characteristics help the clinician form the perfect-fitting splint with the ability to be repeatedly reheated and reshaped for splint revisions.
Excellent Clinician Control
Rolyan Aquaplast-T Thermoplastic Splinting Material gives the clinician complete control to form the perfect-fitting splint to support the patient’s hand, wrist, elbow, ankle, and more. It features a moderate resistance to stretch and will not stretch out of shape when removed from the splint bath allowing it to easily conform to the surface contours. The coated thermoplastic splinting material is often easier to handle and allows for a temporary bond when warm, but once cooled the bond is not permanent. The coating may be removed to create a permanent bond with spirits or by safely scratching the splint surface. A coated surface is also great for long-term splint use as it is less porous and easier to clean.
Aquaplast-T Physical Attributes
This Rolyan thermoplastic splinting material is available in 1/8" (3.2 mm), 1/16" (1.6 mm), and 3/32" (2.4 mm) sheet thicknesses with 1 percent, 13 percent, 19 percent, 38 percent, 42 percent or solid perforation options. It has a moderate to maximum rigidity rated at 59.2 kpsi* to retain shape without reinforcement.

Rolyan Aquaplast-T Thermoplastic Splinting Material
Overview
Aquaplast-T™ is a variation of the original Aquaplast™, but with a water-based, non-stick coating. As part of the Aquaplast family, it features a balance of conformability with a moderate resistance to stretch, giving clinicians more control over how much the material stretches during splint fabrication. With 100% memory, the material “remembers” its original shape when reheated and returns to it, allowing for repeated reheating and reshaping for splint revisions. It is also the only material family that becomes transparent when heated, helping the clinician identify landmarks for positioning and pressure points to provide maximum comfort for the patient.

Heating Instructions

Note: Overheating splinting materials increases the draping/stretching characteristics; allow material to cool slightly before handling to avoid excess stretching.

Care & Cleaning
Store at temperatures between 40° and 90°F (4° and 32°C) and less than 65 percent relative humidity. Avoid prolonged exposure to light, especially ultraviolet. Avoid exposure to corrosive and ethylene oxide fumes.
Formed splints will lose their shape in temperatures over 135°F(57°C) and should be kept away from sources of heat such as ovens, hot water, and car windows.
Clean splint with soap and lukewarm water. Allow splint and straps to dry thoroughly before reapplication.
Precautions for finished orthoses
Splint adjustments are to be made only by a health care professional, who is responsible for providing wearing instructions and precautions to other practitioners, care providers and the patient. If unusual swelling, skin discoloration or discomfort occurs, discontinue use and consult a health care professional.
