These replacement pieces are designed for the Rolyan Palm Protector and Palm Protector with Wrist Supports. The splints are indicated for mild to severe finger spasticity or contractures. Patients can choose between a series of foam palm pieces as hand function improves.
Prevents Skin Breakdown in the Palm
The contracture foam palm pieces are ideal for patients at risk for skin breakdown on the fingers and palms. When the hand becomes contracted, the clenched hand can become sweaty. That added moisture combined with finger nails digging into the palm can cause maceration, fungal infection, and potentially fissures. The foam combined with sheepskin material can absorb perspiration to prevent skin breakdown.
Ideal for Finger Flexion Contracture
The foam palm pieces are used as a cushioned barrier between fingers and palmar skin to prevent injury to the palm from severe finger flexion contracture. Designed to prevent patients from digging fingernails into their palms, the ⅛” thick closed-cell foam with sheepskin lining provides optimal softness and comfort. The foam prevents the hand from closing completely but will not restrict finger movement during hand contractions.
